DexScreener, explained — and what it doesn't show you
A plain-English guide to DexScreener: what it shows, how Trending works, what Dex Paid, boosts and ads do — and the one thing it never shows: who is paying.
By DXT Tools Research · updated Aug 23, 2026
DexScreener is the most used real-time screener for tokens trading on decentralised exchanges. It lists every new liquidity pair across 100+ chains within seconds, charts it, and ranks tokens by volume, trending score and social buzz. Around 14 million visits a month make it the default first tab of the on-chain trader.
It is free to use and free to be listed on. It also sells four things to token teams: an Enhanced Token Info profile (the "Dex Paid" check-mark), Boosts (the lightning badge that lifts a token in Trending), Ads (banner placements) and the Community Takeover (CTO) profile hand-over. These paid signals are visible on every token page — but DexScreener never tells you who paid, when, at what market cap, or what happened next. That gap is what DXT Tools fills, and what this guide is built around.

What DexScreener shows
Every pair with liquidity on a supported DEX: price, chart, market cap / FDV, liquidity, volume, buys vs sells, holders link, the token's socials and description (once the team adds them), and three badges when the team paid: the check-mark (Enhanced Token Info / "Dex Paid"), the lightning bolt with a number (boosts) and a banner (ads).
Tabs per chain: Trending, New pairs, Gainers/Losers, Top traders, plus a search that accepts a contract address, a pair address or a name. Everything is live; nothing needs an account.
How Trending works (short version)
Trending is a score, not a list of the biggest coins: it blends recent volume, buys, unique traders, social activity and — importantly — boosts. A boosted token is multiplied up the list for the duration of the pack, which is why the top of Trending on Solana is so often a row of lightning badges. The full breakdown is in the Trending guide.
The four paid services
- Dex Paid / Enhanced Token Info — a one-time payment that unlocks the profile: logo, banner, socials, description and the check-mark. Usually the first visible sign that a token has a marketing budget. → Dex Paid guide
- Boosts — packs of 10x, 30x, 50x, 100x and 500x that lift the token in Trending for a limited time and show the lightning badge. The larger the pack, the larger the budget behind it. → Boosts guide
- Ads — banner campaigns across the site, the most expensive placement. → Ads and paid services
- CTO (Community Takeover) — when the original team is gone, a community can apply to take over the profile; DexScreener marks it CTO. → CTO guide
Prices, what each product actually does and — from our tracking data — how often a payment was followed by a run or a flop, are in the paid services guide.
What DexScreener doesn't show you
The badges tell you that someone paid. They do not tell you when the payment landed, what the token was worth at that moment, whether it ran afterwards, how many times the same team has done this before, or which tokens are paying right now across all chains. Those are the questions a trader actually has — and the ones DXT Tools records, second by second, from the public API:
- a live feed of every Dex Paid profile, boost purchase, ad campaign and CTO as it lands, every chain,
- "Paid @" — the market cap at the moment of each payment, and the ATH reached after it,
- a flop verdict and a "seen before" warning for serial launchers,
- Insights: which kind of payment works, on which chain, at which hour,
- a token check: paste any contract and see its full paid history.
DexScreener by chain
DexScreener lists 100+ chains, but paid activity concentrates on a handful: Solana carries most of it, Robinhood Chain is the fastest-growing newcomer, then BNB Chain, Base and Ethereum. Each chain page shows who paid there recently, how payments performed on that chain and the busiest hours. See the chains overview for all of them.
Using DexScreener well
- Search by contract address, never by name — names are copied constantly.
- Read the paid badges as budget signals, not endorsements: a Dex Paid check-mark costs a few hundred dollars; a 500x boost costs thousands.
- Check liquidity and the lock/burn status before the chart; check who else the team launched before the socials.
- Use alerts instead of staring: DexScreener has watchlists; DXT Tools has payment alerts by source, pack size and chain.

The DexScreener API
DexScreener exposes a free public API (pairs, tokens, search, token profiles, boosts) with rate limits per endpoint. It does not expose who paid — only the current boosted/profile lists. Everything about endpoints, limits and examples is in the API guide.
What DexScreener doesn't show you
Right now, across every chain DexScreener lists — the latest payments, with the market cap at that moment and where each token is today:
Frequently asked questions
What is DexScreener?
A free real-time screener for tokens trading on decentralised exchanges. It lists new pairs across 100+ chains, charts them and ranks them by volume, trending score and social activity. Teams can pay for a profile, boosts or ads.
Is DexScreener free?
Yes for users — no account, no subscription. Token teams can pay for Enhanced Token Info (the Dex Paid check-mark), boosts and ads; those are the only paid products.
What does "Dex Paid" mean on DexScreener?
The token team paid for Enhanced Token Info: a verified profile with logo, banner, socials and description, shown with a check-mark. It signals a marketing budget, not legitimacy.
What is a DexScreener boost?
A paid pack (10x to 500x) that multiplies a token's position in Trending for a limited time and shows a lightning badge with the pack size.
Can I see which tokens paid DexScreener?
DexScreener only shows the badge on each token page. DXT Tools records every payment across all chains as it happens — see the live feed or paste a contract into the token check.
Is DXT Tools affiliated with DexScreener?
No. DXT Tools is an independent tracker that reads DexScreener's public API. This guide is independent.
